YOUR NEXT MOVE, MADE CLEAR
Make your RRSP work smarter.
Find the right deduction split for today’s income and tomorrow’s possibilities.
Your starting point
A few numbers. A clearer picture.
Use estimated taxable ordinary income after other deductions, before RRSP. Salary is a starting estimate; adjust for pension deductions and other taxable income.
Contribution availability & annual deduction limits
Check your latest CRA notice of assessment. Contributions move money into an RRSP; deductions are claims on your return. They can happen in different years. Do not count a contribution twice.
Enter only newly earned 2027 deduction room after pension adjustments. Unused 2026 deduction limit is carried forward automatically; do not enter it again. This model assumes contributions are available for 2026; it does not model new 2027 contributions or room accrual. Sample limits are not verified entitlements.
Limited to eligible contributions and entered deduction limits. Amounts that cannot be claimed remain carried forward.
Choose your balance
Slide to explore the trade-off.
2026 savings are the base date. 2027 savings are discounted one year.
Best modeled allocation at $1 resolution, with boundary checks. Tax savings are not a guaranteed refund or investment return.
More clarity on what your deduction could save.
YOUR SMART SPLIT
A plan built around your priorities.
Every dollar has a different job.
2026 bracket efficiency
Each bar is an equal slice of your two-year allocation, hypothetically deducted in 2026. Lower brackets can make later dollars less effective.

Planning estimate using basic personal credits, Ontario surtax/health premium and Québec’s federal abatement. Other credits, benefits and special tax rules are excluded.
EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES
Three strategies. Your choice.
All strategies use the incomes and limits in Planner. Change either income to see how the recommended split responds.
What if next year’s income changes?
A sensitivity check using the total nominal strategy; 2027 rules remain provisional.
TRANSPARENT BY DESIGN
Tax rules you can inspect.
2026: published-rule snapshot. 2027: provisional, using 2026 rules unchanged. No official real-time CRA API is used. Updates are checked separately from this application, reviewed, tested and released as a new version.
What the estimate includes
Progressive federal and all 13 provincial/territorial ordinary-income brackets, basic personal credits and federal/Yukon income-dependent basic amounts; Manitoba’s basic amount phaseout; B.C.’s basic tax reduction; Ontario surtax, basic tax reduction and health premium; and Québec’s 16.5% federal abatement and separate provincial brackets. Federal and provincial income are assumed equal.
What can change your result
This is not a full tax-return calculation. It excludes CPP/QPP/EI/QPIP and employment credits, other provincial low-income reductions (including family-based reductions), refundable credits, CCB/GST/OAS and other benefit changes, AMT, capital gains, dividends, spousal/age/disability credits, northern deductions, pension splitting, province changes, and retirement withdrawal tax. Low-income and complex situations may differ materially. The optimizer finds the best result within this limited model, not your complete financial outcome.
Contribute and deduct are different actions
Use the CRA’s available contribution room before contributing. Unused eligible contributions may be deducted in a later year, subject to that year’s deduction limit. A carryforward is not new contribution room. The general annual RRSP dollar maximum is not your personal limit. This planner does not use the $2,000 overcontribution cushion as spendable room. Contributions must meet the applicable claim-year deadline, including first-60-day reporting rules. Verify eligibility, age rules, pension adjustments and your notice of assessment.
Official sources
Source conflict note: Manitoba’s own freeze announcement and CRA T4127 are used instead of the indexed Manitoba thresholds on the CRA overview. B.C. and PEI’s later 2026 changes supersede earlier payroll snapshots. Source checks detect changes; they cannot establish legislative correctness automatically.
A CALMER WAY TO PLAN
Your numbers belong to you.
RRSP Smart Planner helps compare the timing of eligible RRSP deduction claims. It provides estimates, not professional tax advice, and is not affiliated with the CRA or Revenu Québec.

How strategies work
Immediate maximizes 2026 tax savings. Nominal maximizes the sum of 2026 and 2027 tax savings. Present value maximizes 2026 savings plus 2027 savings divided by (1 + your annual discount rate). This compares deduction timing only: contributions are assumed already available, and investment growth, future RRSP withdrawal tax and borrowing costs are excluded. Equal results prefer the earlier claim. Only feasible deduction amounts are compared.
